John Gosnell, 72, abandoned his pets in such horrific conditions in his Blackpool home that out of the estimated 74 animals, only three degus and one rabbit survived. The degus had turned to eating the corpses of their dead cagemates to survive, despite being herbivores in the wild. RSPCA inspector Carl Larsson, said: ìThis was one of the most disturbing investigations I have ever been involved with during my time with the RSPCA.

Robert Muir. A man lured a duck to him with bread before wringing its neck and slinging it in the bin in front of horrified onlookers, a court was told. See NATIONAL story NNDUCK. Robert Muir, 49, killed the duck last May in a "callous act of cruelty" in a beauty spot in Richmond, south west London. Wimbledon Magistrates heard that police were called to the area by members of the public who had witnessed the horrifying act. CCTV footage showed Muir enticing the Mallard duck over to him twice before grabbing it and breaking its neck. He then twisted its neck again before dumping it in a bin.

This is the shocking moment a lowlife yob was captured on CCTV kicking a CAT through the air. See NTI story NTIKICK. The thug, wearing a fluorescent orange jacket and bright trainers, slowly walks up to the moggy, called Millie, before booting it in the face. Sickening footage shows the cat flip backwards by the force of the kick before landing 6ft away on a grass verge. The boy then casually walks away from the scene with a pal. RSPCA officers were called by Millie's owner after she came home with horrific injuries. They checked local CCTV cameras and uncovered the shocking footage of the horrific attack outside the Guinness Trust flats in Sidney Street, Derby. The RSPCA has now launched an investigation into the incident which took place at 4.25pm on Thursday (12/1).

The owner of a dog who was neglected for three months in a garden shed has been disqualified from keeping animals for 10 years. See NTI story NTINEGLECT. When an RSPCA inspector rescued nine-year-old rottweiler Tyson, on 3 September last year, he was in such a bad way that she could not tell what breed he was. As well as being emaciated, he had a severe skin condition from head to tail, had open sores on his legs and pus coming out of his eyes. He was immediately taken to a vet, where he was put to sleep on humane grounds as he was so poorly. His owner Sandra Sangha (DOB 26/08/1974), of Tipton, West Midlands, appeared at Birmingham Magistratesí Court on Friday (6 January), where she pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to Tyson. As well as the 10-year disqualification order, Sangha was given a 15-week prison sentence suspended for two years, and was ordered to pay costs of £300 and a £115 victim surcharge.

The RSPCA is investigating after a dog was cruelly hurled from the window of a moving car travelling at 40mph. See NTI story NTIDOG. Two horrified people spotted the female brown Staffordshire bull terrier being thrown from the vehicle at around 2am on New Years Day. The car, described as a dark-coloured Ford Focus, was travelling at approximately 40mph, but witnesses were unable to get the registration number. The animal suffered a leg injury but miraculously survived the fall and is now being cared for by local dog wardens. RSPCA inspector Rob Crutchley, who is investigating, said the poor pooch was dumped out of the window on High Road, in Willenhall, West Mids.

The animal was found in a field in Cleadon with his genitals and bottom lip hacked off, stomach slashed and his mane cut off. Owner Wendy Redpath, from South Shields, has been left stunned at the horrendous torture measured out on Bobby, her 12-year-old rescue pony, who she described as being ìvery friendlyî and ìlovingî. ìWhoever has done this needs to be taken off the streets. If they can do this to a defenceless horse, what could they do to a child? It doesnít bear thinking about - itís pure evil,î she said.
